After playing through the 3 main acts, you will be able to enter the endgame of POE 2 by completing specific tasks. Although it is very difficult to complete, the various challenges will provide more combat XP and POE 2 Currency than you expected.
But besides the difficulty, what is more confusing when entering the endgame is that you may not know what to do to get those attractive loot, especially when you see countless maps in the map portal. But once you start running some of these maps and master the layout of each map to achieve efficient endgame loot farming, you won’t even want to stop fighting!
To help you have this extraordinary Path of Exile 2 experience, we will introduce you to some ways to change map nodes to help you take advantage of these maps during the endgame.
What Are The Map Mechanics?
Of course, before mastering the methods of taking advantage of the maps, you need to understand how these maps work. First, you need to go to a new, uncontaminated area of the map, preferably one that is large and open as your starting point.
You will then see a lot of Lost Towers close to each other, and you need to start clearing out the enemies in the area. To increase the amount of loot these enemies bring when they die, you need to understand some map node amplification mechanics.
Irradiation
Irradiation appears as a small yellow symbol above the map node, and increases the level of monsters in a specific map node by 1, thereby increasing their health and damage while allowing them to give you more POE 2 Exalted Orbs when they die.
Corruption
Like Irradiation, Corruption increases the level of monsters in the node by 1, and gives a group of enemies a chance to spawn a group of corrupted minions when killed. The difference with Corruption is that it cannot be added to the map, it will only spawn naturally. However, you can irradiate Corruption nodes, which will give your map monsters +2 levels.
Precursor Tablets & Map Modifiers
Now that you know how the map nodes make more efficient at providing loot, and the first way you need to know to change map nodes is to use Precursor Tablets and map modifiers.
You will pick up some Precursor Tablets from time to time while playing the game, and they can be transformed into more powerful one with the help of Orbs of Augmentation and Transmutation. But more importantly, these tablets can add buffs to your endgame map, such as Irradiation, more bosses, or even special endgame mechanics.
In addition, if you have a bunch of towers close to each other, you can also add a series of buffs to the map within the radius, creating a large map for yourself that contains every event.
What you may sometimes forget, however, is that these tablets in POE 2 actually each have their own modifiers, which will provide different buffs to each map within the tower’s radius, such as increasing the rarity of items, increasing the number of magic monsters or Chaos Orbs available. If you need a specific buff, you need to check before inserting the tablet for each tower carefully.
It is worth mentioning that you can also use Distilled Emotions obtained from Delirium event to further modify your slates, giving them additional customization and better rewards.
Waystones
In Path of Exile 2, as a special item, Waystones are similar to equipment, with 3 different rarities, namely normal, magic and rare, and the different rarities will provide different benefits to these Waystones by affecting the number of modifiers and prefixes that Waystones can have, such as increasing XP or increasing the number of shrines.
However, the more troublesome thing is that the suffixes of Waystones will bring you some negative effects, such as increasing the movement speed of monsters in the map, causing you to be cursed with elemental weaknesses, or causing burning ground in the area.
However, it is not recommended to throw the baby out with the bathwater. In fact, the overall benefits of Waystones are enough for you to ignore the troubles it causes, so it is completely worth it to increase the encounter rate of Waystones by consuming Exalted Orbs, because you can get more orbs by grinding these maps later.
Atlas Passive Tree
In Atlas passive tree, good passive skills can provide you with appropriate buffs to improve your efficiency in farming the loot in the endgame map. We would recommend that you choose passive skills that can increase the number and rarity of Waystones dropped, because you initially need as many Waystones as possible to complete the task, such as the following 3 passive skills:
- Fortunate Path: Increases the rarity of Waystones on the map by 100%.
- Constant Crossroads: Increases the quality of Waystones on the map by 20%.
- Local Knowledge: Increases the buff of various biome maps by 40%.
After exploring the map for a while with the help of the above skills, it is time to switch to a new batch of passive skills, because at this time you may have obtained too many Waystones and need a major upgrade.
- Rising Danger: Increases the number of rare monsters in the map by 15%.
- Twin Threats: Can copy 1 rare monster on the map.
- Deadly Evolution: Gives rare or unique monsters in the map 1-2 additional modifiers.
- Remnants of Power: Gives Precursor Tablets a 20% chance of having a double effect on the map.
These late-game passive skills focus on providing modifiers for rare enemies. While this will greatly increase the difficulty of the endgame map you are running, it can also help you get more loot from these powerful enemies.
The above three methods are just some references we provide. In the actual game process, you can follow your own habits and explore more methods that can help you utilize and change map nodes in POE 2 endgame. Thank you for reading.
